Shougang Hierro Peru S.A.A is a completely invested company of Shougang Group Corp., when it took over 98.4% of shares of Hierro Peru on December 1, 1992 and obtained the rights of mining, prospecting and operating of all the resources covering 670.7 square kilometers without time limit. The headquarter is located in Lima, capital of Peru.

The Mine and Beneficiation Plants are located in Marcona, around 525 Km South East to Lima, the capital of Peru. Roads in the mining area are all connected with the highway net in North America, which lead to Lima and all other places in the country. The bay of San Nicolas makes a perfect natural port because it never silts or freezes, from where the iron ore can be transported to all over the world. The company's private air planes can take off or land at the navy airport freely. In a word, the mine area enjoys a convenient and efficient multi-dimensional net work of aeroamphibious transportations.

It is estimated that the reserves of iron resource is 1662 million tons until the end of 2006, among which 1093 million tons have been approved and 569 million tons can be possibly explored. Rich resource of copper has also been found in this area. Shougang Hierro Peru has facilities of mining, beneficiation, balling and port loading. The final products are BF pellet, direct reduction pellet, high grade sinter feed, high grade pellet feed and calibrated sinter feed. The production capacity and sales quantity in 2006 was more than 7.2 million tons. The products are sold to American and Asian countries and areas. The main customers are in China market, which shares 62.5% of the total sales. The company also has its own power plant with capacity of 68 MW and a deep water dock suitable for vessels with maximum tonnage of 200 thousand.
